Change storage location

To save a phrase file to a new destination:

1. Open the main program window.
2. Highlight the desired phrase file in the root level of the phrase tree.
3. Click File » Save As and choose the desired new storage location.

The phrase file will be saved to the new location and will be used from this new location from now on.

Access to a local phrase file by 3rd party programs is permanently locked by PhraseExpress while the program is running. E.g. a 3rd party backup cannot backup the phrase file while PhraseExpress is running. We recommend to exclude the phrase file from the backup program and instead let it backup the backup files created by PhraseExpress.

Do not store the phrase database on a network drive or in a cloud synchronization directory. Instead, use a directory of your local hard disk to avoid problems if the network connection is not available on PhraseExpress program startup, or if the cloud service accesses the database file at the same time as PhraseExpress. To share phrases with other installations, consider using the synchronization function or an SQL server.

File names must be unique if using multiple phrase files.
