Software Updates

PhraseExpress has an optional built-in feature that can automatically check for new software updates.

You can configure the automatic update check to only notify you about important, minor or experimental updates.

The version number of your current installation is displayed in the PhraseExpress main program window title bar (Click the PhraseExpress tray icon and select Settings to open the main program window).

If you do not get an update notification while you believe your installed version is out-of-date, you may change the update setting to include to check also for minor or experimental updates if you would like to install them.

The automatic update check is not available on the client installations if using the Network Edition. Please find more information in the manual of the PhraseExpress Network Edition.

Please note that the update notification and actual availability of a downloadable version can be different from below version history as updates may be hold back for additional review and/or revoked because of technical problems.

  • 3rd applications such as backup software may block access to the phrase file in rare cases. This may have caused PhraseExpress to create a new phrase file and overwrite the original file. To prevent data loss, PhraseExpress now ask whether to load an existing phrase file or to create a new one.
  • In rare cases, PhraseExpress forgot the phrase file location after importing a phrase file.
  • Network Edition with Client v3.0.134 only: If phrase folder accesss rights input field was empty, everybody could access the corresponding folder.
  • Issue solved with caps letters if an Autotext was triggered with ENTER or TAB.
  • Bug with the synchronization of the Autotext buffer solved that lead to missing Autotext detection.
  • Export bug resolved that caused a disabled Export menu item.
  • Bugfix attempt to solve issues with Asian character sets.
