PhraseExpress is safe to use
PhraseExpress is installed on premise without a cloud service or a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. You have full control about your data. If required, you can isolate PhraseExpress from the internet in normal use. To exchange phrases with other users, you can optionally use any cloud service, even your own hosted solution, such as OwnCloud or a local NAS storage with VPN access.
False Malware Positives
PhraseExpress requires access to your keyboard input to provide the desired functions, e.g. To replace text short cuts with longer phrases (autotext feature). However, "Antivirus" and "AntiMalware" software may inadvertedly interprete the "keyboard hook" which is used to detect keyboard input as a malicious "Keylogger" and block PhraseExpress from recognizing key strokes.
Please check if your security software has a "keylogger protection" and consider switching it off or - if available - add PhraseExpress to a white list of authorized applications. We provide step-by-step instructions for some popular security programs in the FAQ.
