First impressions

Postby olijacobi » 03 Mar 10, 09:59

Hi all

Wow, this is the first topic ... ;-)

So, my first impressions are quite good :)

We tested it with one Console PC and 2 Workstation PCs. On all PCs is also Synergy installed.

+ Very fast setup and configuration
+ No program errors or crashs
+ Works from the first try on
+/- The screen on the workstation becomes dark (that is good), but he will get no actual screen (could be different)
- When we left the screen on the console PC, there will rest a "dead" mouses with the name and cursor
- Its not possible to grab more than one window at the same time

This is my test after 15min. You will here more from me.

Regards,
Oli

ps: Sorry for my bad English, but there is no german forum ;-)

Thank you for your feedback! You are the very first commenting on a wholly new kind of software.

+/- The screen on the workstation becomes dark (that is good), but he will get no actual screen (could be different)

You can configure level of the screen dimming and also disable it if you set it to zero.

What do you mean with "but he will get no actual screen", please?

- When we left the screen on the console PC, there will rest a "dead" mouses with the name and cursor

Can you explain in more detail what happened? If the network connection would break, "dead" mouse cursors should be removed automatically after a short time period.

What is the operating system you are using, please?

- Its not possible to grab more than one window at the same time

This is correct as it is not supported by Windows or any third party program. We are aware about an addon for Windows that enables multiple simultaneous mouse actions but still, almost no program would support it.

Weha, i'm the first ;-)

Thanks a lot, when i will set it to zero, the screen on my workstation will have the actual screen.
When it is not set to zero, its not just black, also the clock will also be always on the same time and i see no notifications (still the same screen)

Can you explain in more detail what happened? If the network connection would break, "dead" mouse cursors should be removed automatically after a short time period

The "dead mouse pointer" can you see in the attached image on (my) first post. I don't think that is a network error...

What is the operating system you are using, please?

On all PCs its WinXP Pro SP3

- Its not possible to grab more than one window at the same time

This is correct as it is not supported by Windows or any third party program.

It's a pity.

But i have a new error again :-(
When I'm on the Console PC from my workstation, and my co-worker also connect to the Console PC, he will get my cursor-name and cursor-color. I must do one click and then he will get his name and color. but just for some seconds and then he will get again my name and color...
Kind regards,
olijacobi

Could you provide a little more information:
1. Do you have any virtualization software running on clients or the Console PC? Are the problems reproducible if you turn virtualization software off?
2. Do you have any antivirus software running on clients or the Console PC? Are the problems reproducible if you turn antivirus software off?
3. Do you have any software working with keyboard and mouse (actually input in general) running on clients or the Console PC? Are the problems reproducible if you turn this software off?
4. How do you switch between client and Console PC (move the mouse to the side of the monitor, hotkey?)
5. Could you describe the exact steps to produce the 2 problems you experience? (getting cursor from another user and "dead" mice)

1. Do you have any virtualization software running on clients or the Console PC? Are the problems reproducible if you turn virtualization software off?

On my PC is VMWarePlaywer installed - but not running since a long time. Thats the only one

2. Do you have any antivirus software running on clients or the Console PC? Are the problems reproducible if you turn antivirus software off?

Yes there is TrendMicro Anti Virus on all PCs. But i can't close it because I need a password to disable it...

3. Do you have any software working with keyboard and mouse (actually input in general) running on clients or the Console PC? Are the problems reproducible if you turn this software off?

Yes, we have synergy running on our PCs - but for testing we have disabled / closed it.

4. How do you switch between client and Console PC (move the mouse to the side of the monitor, hotkey?)

I switch between the to PCs when i go to top of my screen and go to bottom of the console screen.

5. Could you describe the exact steps to produce the 2 problems you experience? (getting cursor from another user and "dead" mice)

"dead mouse": Today we have no dead mouses

wrong cursor name: we can reproduce it!
One client curser (el jefe) is on the console, the next curser (Jacobi) coms on it - some time he will get the cursor name of the first (el jefe). Jacobi can do nothing to get the own name, but when el jefe make a click, Jacobi will get his own correct name and color. some time (we do nothing), Jacobi will renamed to el jefe...
Mouse with same Name.png

(sorry, the name on the "not readable curser" is also "el jefe" - but when we catch the screen it decrease...)
